DOMESTIC ARCHITECTURE Tom Young Architects have over 20 years’ experience of working on all scales of architecture within the domestic sector. Work on existing homes is the backbone of our business. We have successfully helped clients improve and extend their homes. We provide a full service from early stage design through to the end of construction. We are expert at planning applications.

We enjoy working closely with clients in the development of architectural schemes. We are sure that good projects emerge when the main parties to the construction process not only perform well, but also encourage the creativity and skill of all people they are working with.

MIXED USE Tom Young Architects have undertaken a number of schemes for commercial clients which are mixed use in character. This work is likely to expand in the future as pressure on urban plots increases and the need to reduce travel times becomes clearer. Our primary experience of mixed use schemes is centred in Islington and Camden. We have a solid track record in obtaining planning permission for difficult, former industrial sites. We have also worked on smaller scale projects with owners of small businesses, with a key focus on effective and original solutions which help businesses owners maximise the value of space above their commercial properties.

PRO BONO WORK Tom Young Architects are committed to supporting voluntary community projects, consistent with those urban enrichment values which inform our architecture in practice. We have successfully converted derelict sites to vegetable gardens in Camden and Islington, curated exhibitions in Camden and Tower Hamlets, and provided alternative community minded proposals to major public schemes in order to inform local debate in the London Borough of Camden.

We have strong community values and are keen to be involved through constructive contribution.

URBAN DESIGN For over twenty years, Tom Young Architects have taken a keen interest in urban design thinking centred around London neighbourhoods, with a specific focus on neighbourhood economic possibilities providing frameworks for small business enterprise. Our work focuses on London neighbourhoods and the economic possibilities which they contain as frameworks for small business enterprise, with key experiences centred in the London Boroughs of Islington, Camden, Hackney and Havering. Successful collaborations with other practices including MJP, Think Place, and Metropolitan Workshop.
